Our Mission

The primary purpose of West Michigan SAIL (WMSAIL), a 501(C)3 organization, is to teach sailing to all veterans for free.

Through the veterans who we teach, we are reaching those who are isolated and struggling with PTSD and depression and isolation.

Our Mission

WMSAIL was created to make the therapeutic benefits of sailing accessible to veterans for free as well as collaborate with other organizations serving veterans, in its effort to reduce veteran isolation while creating a supportive, dedicated network for veterans. When Captain Lee Price learned of the national suicide rate of veterans, Price made it his mission to contribute to the veteran support efforts by creating a camaraderie-based sailing program for veterans, which would later become the West Michigan S.A.I.L. Program. WMSAIL programs facilitate self-discovery, self-sufficiency, a sense of accomplishment, camaraderie, resilience, and sustainability nationally. WMSAIL works and partners with other veteran-focused organizations and agencies throughout the United States, to provide an accessible network of support for all veterans.
